Pixie may be one of the newest—and smallest—members of the Inner Realms family, but her journey to the center began long before she arrived. As a young dog, she was living on the streets of Tijuana alongside a homeless man. When an injury to her paw made it difficult for him to care for her, he made the difficult decision to place her with a rescue organization, giving her the chance to receive the care and home she needed.

Pixie spent several months in foster care before Garyth traveled to Tijuana to bring her home. The connection between them was immediate. From the moment they met, Pixie seemed to know she had found her person, and today she can often be found following Garyth wherever he goes.

Her arrival also carries a special connection to Millie. Pixie was adopted on June 19—the very same date Millie joined the family five years earlier. The coincidence felt so meaningful that June 19 is now celebrated as both of their birthdays. After a slightly cautious beginning as new sisters, Millie and Pixie have settled into life together, sharing walks, playtime, and their place within the Inner Realms family.

At just ten pounds, Pixie brings an outsized sense of joy to the center. Affectionate, playful, and naturally social, she loves meeting participants and curling up with them for cuddles. While Millie has years of experience quietly accompanying participants through more private moments of their healing journeys, Pixie is still finding her own way. For now, she offers something beautifully simple: affection, companionship, and the unmistakable warmth of a little dog who seems very happy to have found her home.

From the streets of Tijuana to a family of her own, Pixie’s story is a small reminder of something deeply familiar at Inner Realms Center: sometimes a new chapter begins simply by being given a safe place to land.
